UI Case Study
Designing a Classifieds App.

The goal was to create a design and lifestyle-oriented classifieds app where users can sell or buy design- and brand products simple and direct.
Problem: common classified apps contain many
low-quality products. An excessive number of offers and a poorly structured search option, which is partly hampered by incorrect information on brand names make it very complicated to find quality products. At Findly, all products and product photographs are curated to ensure a high-quality standard.

Discovery Phase
In the beginning, I studied what already exists with the competition. I analyzed the use of design principles and heuristics in other apps and their use of patterns to learn from them.
Afterward, I designed user stories for both -
buyers and sellers.
Buyer
When I found
an item that I love,
I want to get it at
a cheaper price,
so that I can save money.
Seller
When I have underused products that I don't need,
I want to sell it, so that I can get rid of it while earning some money.
After initial sketches I started with
mid-fidelity wireframes before designing
the final interfaces.
User Interface Design
The main characters to whom I was creating the app could be described as design and lifestyle enthusiasts who keep up with current trends and consider common classifieds apps to be visually unattractive, overloaded, and confusing. Therefore my design needed to be clean and structured, open, easy to use, and beautiful.
The color palette and image style is meant to reflect the wide range and high quality of the products. The images are as special as the products on offer and their audience, but also humorous.
Logo
Find items you love in a user-friendly environment. Findly. the logo was supposed to look open, human, and welcoming.
Onboarding
The first impression of the app.
It provides the user with an introduction to the most important features.
Home Screen
Welcomes the user to a well-structured and not crowded screen full of inspiration and possibilities.
Search
The search function is the heart of the app and special attention was paid to making it structured, logical, and easy to use. The results and product pages are also well structured and reduced to the essentials. The products themselves are
in the foreground.
Sell
To sell a product in seconds, users simply have to upload a photo, choose a category, and add
a description.
